Walnuts in October

What a great day !
The weather cooperated so well and we were able to dye with Black Walnuts outside at Kim's place.

We had 4 dyepots with 4 different dye lots, so to speak. All the walnuts for each of the 4 pots were collected in different areas and soaked for differing time periods.

It was a "horizontal" dye experiment.

We all soaked our skeins and fibres and added them to the different pots.

We laid the skeins and fibres on a drying rack.

Here are the results! It was very interesting to see that all the dyepots gave different results. Especially interesting was Shirley's 3 year old "walnut liquor" which dyed the skeins grey, not brown.

We all agreed that it was a fun and educational experience.
